Energy supplements for creativity

October 17th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

Created in Photoshop, using images obtained purely from Google, I decided to create these pills to visualise what a Red Bull pill, along with a burst of FWA and Twitter would look like. The affects would be instant and guaranteed to keep you awake, alert and creatively active for hours! If only, eh?

A definite creative lift with Elev8tor

September 27th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

I spotted this site Elev8tor and really liked the work they do. The work is clean, simple and colourful where it needs to be. The packaging and branding work is great too as the example above shows. Some nice examples of expressive and graphic art and type used on bottles. Great work!

Festo AirPenguin

August 30th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

I’m surprised I haven’t seen this before. It’s the Festo AirPenguin and the YouTube video shows self-regulating biomechatronic systems (artificial penguins) flying in the air. They look like they are attached to the ceiling with fine wire, but in actual fact they use a clever bionic Fin Ray® structure and move gracefully through the air.

A group of three autonomously flying penguins hovers freely through a defined air space that is monitored by ultrasound transmission stations. The penguins are at liberty to move within this space; a microcontroller gives them free will in order to explore it. read more.

EA Mobile’s Auditorium for iPhone

As soon as I get my new iPhone I will be downloading this app: EA Mobile’s Auditorium.

To play, guide a “Flow” of particles into audio containers to harmonize color, light, and music. Synchronize with intuitive touchscreen controls. Play 5 ACTS with up to 7 levels in each. With several solutions to all 25 levels, it’s richly enjoyable.

Laurant Nivalle – must see photography

July 30th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

It’s just stunning. Laurant Nivalle, French photographer, art director and CGI artist, has given me new hope and inspiration. I think his work is varied, focused, atmospheric without trying too hard, and makes abstract photography look dreamlike. A must see. : )

Hidden Gems at the Creators Project, London.

July 18th, 2010 § 1 Comment

Wow! The Creators Project was live in London. Down in the basment of Victoria House, we came across a busy, contemporary space which was buzzing with creatives and technology. I was just BLOWN AWAY by UnitedVisualArtists’ Triptych. Commissioned by onedotzero, and music by Matthias Kispert, this LED sculpture uses three large screens that respond to people’s movements, and then the sculptures explode with visceral experiences of sound and light. This piece was just screaming power.

I’ll be keeping tabs on what The Creators Project will be saying and doing. I’ve had a major burst of inspiration and another mad thought about creating some installation art. Bring out the Physics and Electronics books….

Poked Studio’s Tasty Mushrooms

July 13th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

I am really enjoying the work at Poked Studio. They have a fab collection of illustration, graphic design, 3D visualisation, with an awesome list of clients. Very nice work!

The mushrooms above have been apparently inspired by the power-up mushrooms in Mario, and Poked Studio designed these $28 prints with 3D Blender and Photoshop. They are really cute and look very tasty!
