I am a digital designer, currently living in St Albans, Hertfordshire and have been working in the industry since 2005. I luurve designing for the web!
In fact, I like to create digital things (whether it be artwork, web design, illustration) whatever comes my way, and the subject matter can vary dramatically. If I have a crazy new idea, I like to experiment and see what can be achieved. Experimentation is key!
My illustration is best described as random, abstract and expressive, mixing sources like photography and scans. I started out studying graphics and fine art, so I tend to lean towards colour and composition and ensuring there is a right balance of objects.
I have recently been creating digital assets like characters in Illustrator, then using these characters in digital compositions. One common technique is to create 3D-like surfaces and lighting effects. This is a feat within itself for someone who doesn’t have a 3D background, but I can instantly see the benefits when adding depth to an artwork. I use Photoshop extensively to help achieve this and plan to develop this further in my work.
My other roles include working for my partner as digital designer and art director in our small company called Augmatic, producing Augmented Reality applications. Here I can create storyboards, produce websites and generally contribute towards conceptual ideas and art direction.
